Christina is an award-winning interior designer experienced in new construction and renovation projects.
Hi, I’m Christina — the face behind the portfolio! I am based in the Greater Vancouver area and believe that well-designed spaces spark joy and bring a sense of peace to our daily lives.
I am experienced working with clients through the full construction process, from initial concepts and drawings through to furniture and finishing touches. I’ve worked on homes of varying styles and budgets, always applying key design principles to ensure the best possible end result. The aesthetic and direction for each project is always tailored to the client; and the challenge of designing bespoke spaces is what drives my passion for my job.
I received my formal education in Interior Design at BCIT, earning my CID with Distinction. I also hold a Diploma in Marketing Management and worked a corporate job in Brand & Development Marketing prior to pursuing my career as a Designer.
In addition to my solo practice, I also work for Christen Luxury Homes — a business started by my parents over 20 years ago that focuses on high-end residential construction. Being immersed in the family business has been invaluable for my skills as an interior designer. It has allowed me to stay close to the construction process and understand the day-to-day expectations and requirements from the team on site. It has also trained me to have a meticulous eye for detail and deep understanding of budgets and timelines.

Frequently Asked Questions

Whether it's a single room, a full home, or just needing a few pieces of furniture, the process always follows a similar path.
It starts with an initial consultation to discuss what your needs are and how we can work together. From there we establish a scope of work detailing what the project will entail. Once the scope has been signed off, the work begins! The design process starts with mood boards, inspiration imagery, and concept drawings, and then moves to construction documentation and spec books. Presentations and visuals are provided along the way, with client approvals and feedback required at each stage.

Mood boards, drawings, elevations, and even 3D renderings when needed. We will also take full advantage of my extensive sample library, so you can see what your materials look like together and get a tactile feel of everything prior to finalizing.

If you already know what you like, that's great! Working with a designer not only allows you to collaborate with a pro and elevate your aesthetic, but it also saves you time and money through the construction process.
Designers provide visual tools through the design process. These visual tools help to flush out ideas, and ensure you are confident with what you approve, and know what to expect at the end of your construction journey. All of this is translated to a detailed set of Interior Design (ID) Drawings for the construction team.
These ID Drawings will be used on site every day during construction, and your builder will also use the ID Drawings to gather quotes.
A properly detailed set of drawings and specifications are essential when quoting a project. Vendors and trades need to know exactly what the design is and which materials will be used to provide you with comparable quotes.
And when these vendors and trades get to work, the ID Drawings provide a clear roadmap of what you need them to do. This allows them to work quickly and takes out any guesswork, ensuring you are getting exactly what you want.
Let's use an electrician as an example. How will they give you an accurate, comparable quote if they don't have a clear scope of work? How many pot lights there will be, how many fixtures will they need to hang, LED strips to install, appliances to wire for, etc.? How will they know exactly where to install everything when they are working on site? Will the rough-ins line up with your millwork, windows, doorways? Will they need to call you to site repeatedly to ask questions that would have been quickly answered in a drawing package? And if mistakes are made, how much will it cost in time and labour to redo the work?
Maybe you've been through a renovation or build before — but that doesn't make the construction process any less complicated. There are thousands of details to consider and decisions to make. Working with a professional means you are planning the best you can, before the team gets to work building it. And it saves you the stress of making all these decisions alone, or even worse, making them on the spot and under pressure during construction.

I believe in making good design accessible. If a full design scope is out of your budget, I offer services such as hourly consulting, and even e-design, which is a hybrid of DIY and professional guidance. The best way to get started is to reach out for a conversation, so we can discuss what will work best for your project.

Simply put: specifying and drawing every detail you see on the interior of a space. Think of it like "interior architecture" (which is what interior designers are called in some parts of the world!). Space planning and optimizing your floorplan. Construction documentation such as electrical plans, framing details, lighting layouts, plumbing details, and millwork drawings. Specifying all materials, fixtures, finishes, and colours. And of course, coordinating everything so that it looks great.

There are a lot of great furniture and decor stores out there, but as a designer, I have access to a world of vendors that are not available to the retail shopper. This opens you up to having more choices, often finding more unique, quality-made pieces at the same price point as what you could have found at the store. We still use retail from time to time, but it's often mixed with trade-only sources.
You can also elect to take the headache out of furniture shopping and have your designer take care of the nitty-gritty. Measurements, coordinating everything, ordering, logistics, accepting deliveries, installation, warranty claims, etc. can all be taken off your plate.
During a new build or renovation, having your designer work on the furniture & decor in conjunction with the more "architectural" interior design elements really ensures the most efficient, holistically designed end result.
Let's use decorative lamps as an example. If your designer plans your furniture layout from the start, then they'll know where you require electrical sources for your decorative lamps. Sometimes that means planning for it around your millwork. Sometimes that may mean a floor plug in the room under a table, so you don't see a cord running along the floor to the wall. Is the house being built with radiant heat? Well, then you need to know before the radian gets installed, because you won't be drilling into concrete with water pipes running through later on! This is just one example of something that is so easily planned for in advance, but near impossible to retrofit later on.
